Tamiya 1/12 Ducati 1199 Panigale S is a very well made model kit which replicated a very fine detail of this amazing bike.
Tamiya metal front fork set and detail-up sets from Top Studio (PE sets and the chain sets) were used to add more fine details to this already amazing kit which transform it to a nearly perfect model out of the box without any DIY details.
Engine block finished. I use Gaia light-stainless-silver mixed with some gun-metal to make it darker. A thin layer of flat-clear coat was applied to make the texture looks closer to the aluminium block texture.
The engine cover color was mixed by Gaia star-bright-gold with star-bright-silver and gun-metal, added a layer of flat-clear coat as well.
Exhaust pipe finished with a light burning effect. Apply a layer of star-bright-silver, then regional star-bright-iron and start-bright-gold mixed with silver.
Top Studio chain set. This set provides a tool for assembling the chain.
Warning: This set really requires patient and certain level of skill. Though the outcome is good, but I would not recommend this unless you want some challenge. I would recommend the Hobby Design PE set which include the chain set that is much easier, but the chain is not movable.
Front fork, brake disc, heat radiator from Top Studio and Tamiya detail-up sets.
The handles are one-piece out of the kit. It takes time to mask and color them. The handle tips were cut off and the metal tips from Top Studio were attached.
Front fork damper sensor cables were added by using the small electric line from the Top Studio set.
The engine body mostly will be covered by other body parts after full finish. Only the red cylinder head cover and small part of the exhaust pipe will be easier seen later. Not too much effort spent on the detail of the engine body part. Just follow the instruction for basic painting.
但是排氣侯還是有做少少局部金屬燒黑效果.
The exhaust pipe was done with some burning effect (though later likely hard to be seen).
田宮原裝出左兩份 Detail Up parts, 左邊份係 Carbon fibre 水貼, 右邊份係蝕刻片.
Tamiya provides 2 detail up parts for this FXX K kit. The one on the left is carbon fibre pattern decal and the one on the right is photo-etch parts.

Composite Ceramic Material (CCM) Brake discs
呢份 brake disc 一件過無分件, 要自己 mask 黎分色...
之前架 Raybrig NSX 分晒件就容易好多.
The brake assembly in this kit is a one-piece design, have to mask different sections for painting. The Tamiya Raybrig NSX which I built previously offers separated disc and caliper which is much easier for painting.
左邊盤頂 air box 既金屬 "Ferrari" 字貼時唔小心扯甩左少少炭貼... 影相只好影右邊避開瑕疵位.
The carbon decal on the intake airbox is relatively difficult to apply due to it's curved shape. Decal softer is a must and patient is needed to complete it.
When applying the metal decal "Ferrari" on the left intake airbox, some carbon decal was tear off carelessly leaving a small defect there... (later fixed with the spare decal)
安全帶係用蝕刻片套裝的, 帶身其實係普通貼紙質地, 比較薄, 少少美中不足...
之前的 Raybrig NSX 蝕刻套裝的安全帶係用薄軟膠片cut 出黎, 象真度較高.
The PE detail up set includes the seat belt. But the belt is actually a decal sheet which I think the texture is not realistic enough.
The PE seat belt detail up set from Tamiya Raybrig NSX I built previously offer much better texture and result.
中控台大量炭貼, 同樣唔算太高難度, 唔好心急愎慢貼, 水貼軟化劑係必須的.
The carbon decal covers almost the whole central panel area. Not too difficult to apply the carbon detail, just need some patient.

因為本身對拋光技巧唔係太熟練, 呢幾日拎左車頂部件研究拋光, 拋完失敗又噴返再拋, 終於略有所悟...
I was not very good at polishing surface to a mirror-like effect. Make use of the roof top to practice. Re-paint, re-polish, re-paint, re-polish a few times. Finally make it!
成果滿意, 唔錯, 唔錯.
Satisfactory result.
之後剩底就係車身組件.
Full chassis completed. Coming will be the work on the body panels.

呢部 FXX K 車殼部份比較多工序, 因為表面係紅色, 但入面要係半消光黑色, 而且部份表面都係光黑色要mask黎噴. 車門, 尾翼等由幾件 parts 組合, 要晒功夫去磨平接口位, 都幾係野...
A bit more work required for this FXX K body parts. Multi colors with different texture is needed on a single body part, e.g. the door part is gloss red at the bottom, gloss black at the top, and flat black inside. A lot polishing work is needed for disappearing the connecting gap between parts joining together.
............ 可惜車頭個件唔小心漏左隙, 結果成件要洗左油重做............. !_!
A small defect in the masking job causing a small black dot on the font body panel.... have to wash the paint on the whole front panel and REDO painting....

上水貼, 噴光油, 進行中
Applying decal and gloss paint, work in progress.
水貼有2種:
一種係普通水貼,無咩特別,
第二種係銀色拉花水貼, 非常容易炒粉, 因為係超級薄!
貼超薄水貼千萬唔好心急, 開頭滴濕少少個表面, 慢慢對好位再吸去多餘水份, 用微濕棉花棒好輕力慢慢印. 如要用水貼軟化劑, 一定要等上一個步驟印好晒位先掃好少少少上邊位, 千萬唔好掃到濕晒, 否則自動收你皮.
There are 2 types of water transfer decal in the kit:
One is normal type which is nothing special.
Another type is the silver stripe decal which is super thin!
It is very easy to mess up with the silver decal. I have to be super careful, add a few drops of water to the surface applying the decal, shift the decal to the right position in a very soft manner and slowly absorb the extra water under the decal. Do not apply decal softer before the decal sits in the correct position. Apply only a very light amount of decal softer to the edge if needed. Do not make it all wet with decal softer or else....

部份車身部件拋光完成, 試拼上車架睇睇效果.
Some of the body panels' polishing work completed. Tried to mount on the chassis temporary to check the outcome effect.
完成後兩邊門同頭蓋非常緊密, 極難開關. 為免整爛林美香, 影相時都係唔開門先, 遲下有機會再開吧. 請欣賞幾張完成圖!
Once put up everything to the chassis, the doors and front panel wheel arc is extremely tight which make it very hard to open the door. To avoid any damage, I decided to not open the door at this moment. Leave it later... Please enjoy the finished FXX K!
